A few months ago, we were made aware of a brand new CD / EP of Greg Proops' was going to be released. We are happy to now tell you that said EP, titled "Proops Digs In", shall be available on June 1st, 2010 (AKA, this upcoming Tuesday, folks)!

A short description of the CD (taken from the A Special Thing website) is written below:

"Proops Digs In!" is a 36-minute tour de force from a master improviser and noted snarketarian. Recorded at the Little Room at Largo on the night of Greg's "Elsewhere" release party, "Proops Digs In!" finds him at his loosest, and possibly his filthiest. Learn Greg's answer to TV's "Cougertown," his almighty disdain for Christian Audigier and his inspired vision of a stage play pitting James Bond against Wolverine. Oh, and he also gives that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad the business.

The hard copy of the CD is already available for pre-ordering online and comes as part of a three CD package. For a mere $15, not only shall you receive "Proops Digs In", but "Fossil Record" by Dan Telfer and "Sir, You Have Fooled Me Twice" by Paul F. Tompkins!

It has been said that this is an exclusive, limited-edition printing, so hurry up and order the CD package now while you can (at this time, you must buy the three CD package - you cannot buy "Proops Digs In" seperately)! You can order them online HERE.

Note: The material is currently not available on iTunes or Amazon. We shall let you know if it becomes available on either of these sites (or elsewhere).

Bow Down And Worship The Wit Of "Elsewhere"

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

Yesterday, Greg Proops' latest comedy album "Elsewhere" was released! The album features roughly an hour of non-stop hilarity. From angry, edgy, biting humor to his razor sharp wit and sheer plethora of intelligence and astounding vocabulary, this album will take you on a whirlwind joyride of comedy. It can quite easily be considered his most vicious album yet, mercilessly tackling and throwing down on subjects concerning the miseries of living 'elsewhere', why Britney makes us feel good about our pathetic lives again, ponderings on how the Olsen twins' heads manage to stay afloat on their toothpick bodies, how Evel Knievel was actually the real life version of Wile E. Coyote, why women actually have brains and use them unlike men, and how Hillary Clinton's proverbial member is swift, massive, and entirely dangerous to all who threaten. These are just but a few grains of sand on the topics that are covered, as I could not even begin to properly do the genius of this album justice. You must - I require, nay, demand this of you - purchase it and listen to it for yourself, so that you, too, may feel the love for the Proopkitty and worship his comedic divinity.

There are two ways to go about purchasing. The album can be downloaded online in the form of MP3s from either iTunes or Amazon, or you can purchase a hard copy from A Special Thing Records. The cost is only a mere $10 either way.

Just recently, we heard of a rumor involving a possible resurrection of Whose Line (or, some sort of other improv show, that would involve at least Drew Carey and Greg Proops). However, out of the blue, it seems that murmurings of new projects have suddenly sprouted and taken wing!

It seems that we finally have a bit more information concerning Greg's newest album! Well over a year ago, we mentioned rumors of a new comedy CD coming out. Now the item officially has a name: Elsewhere. The CD is being released by "A Special Thing Records" (a company that is well-known for releasing comedy-related material). However, we still don't know of its release date, nor do we know the actual content of the CD. It had originally been rumored to be a CD featuring content from Greg's chat show at Largo, though this is not confirmed. However, speaking as one who has attended Largo a few times now, a Largo CD would be most welcome!

Greg's had a history of playing the role of 'television host'. He played this role well with shows such as Space Cadets, Rendez-View, and V.S. He's also hosted numerous other small items for television (such as Memory Skills). Thus, when it was just announced that Greg will reprising his role as a TV host for a brand-new game show called "Head Games", we were both intrigued and yet not too surprised to see him going back to bat at something which he obviously does well. "Head Games" will be shown on the Science Channel, and was created by and will be produced by Whoopi Goldberg. It is said that the show will involve videos of the craziest science riddles and questions. The show will be shot in front of a live studio audience in New York City, New York, and possible contestants are already being chosen! If you are interested in being a contestant, the casting call ad from Craigslist stated the following:

The Science Channel and Executive Producer Whoopi Goldberg are currently looking for a select group of bright, witty people who would like to appear as contestants on a new game show and aren't afraid to mix it up with host Greg Proops...and maybe win some cash. You don't need to know Einstein's Theories or be a master at quantum physics. You only need to choose the right answer...and have fun while you're doing it.

For more information on how to be a contestant, please click this link. Auditions are already being held, and filming is set to commence in late August, with the show rumored to begin airing early October.

If you're interested in attending a taping (or two or three) of "Head Games", email headgamesaudience@gmail.com and be sure to include your name and phone number so that a member of the audience department can contact you with more information.

But that's not all! Mr. Proops has definitely been keeping himself busy, as it was also just announced that he is piloting a new show for ESPN called "GSI: Game Scene Investigation". The only description we currently have of the show are as follows:

In the show, Greg will set out to investigate and uncover the truth behind some of sport's most famous myths. Are they real or fake?

Indeed, it's an interesting concept, especially to sports fans. As knowledgeable as Greg is about both history and sports (especially baseball), this is right up his alley. Stay tuned for further updates on when GSI will be hitting your television sets.

As a bit of pure speculation, just recently in an interview, Greg had mentioned that he was working on a possible new show that would involve him traveling all around the globe. Either there is yet another pilot in the works... or he was referring to GSI. (Don't forget about the mysterious pilot, too, that was filmed back in May!)

Either way, the Proopdog has been extremely busy as of late. With so many new projects and shows and comedy CDs, Greg is really strutting his stuff. And of course, he continues to tour with both his improv and stand-up, as well as is still a part of "True Jackson VP"!

"True Jackson VP", in which Greg Proops plays Max Madigan, is Nickelodeon's 2nd highest rated show, with the first season a booming success!  While the current season is nearing its end, season two premieres in September.  Very soon, however, you won't have to turn on Nick to catch re-runs (or download our videos here).  On September 8th, 2009, True Jackson VP Season One Volume One will be released on DVD!  The DVD will include two discs, though at this moment, it is unknown exactly what those two discs will consist of.  As the DVD is titled "volume one", I am guessing that it will only feature the first half of the season, with a second volume - with the second half of season one - being released at a later date.  However, rumor has it that the DVDs will have blooper reels and some behind-the-scenes footage!  The DVD is currenly being priced at about $27, but you can pre-order it off of Amazon.com for only $20.  The DVD is Region 1, which means that it is for U.S. and Canadian machines only (unless your player is universal and region-free).

wldvdpic1.gifThe last time a Whose Line DVD was released, it was fall of 2007 with the second DVD of season 1.  Since then, we have eagerly been anticipating the next DVD release, believing that season 2 would follow.  However, that doesn't seem to be the case, as it was recently announced that the next DVD would instead be "The Best Of Whose Line Is It Anyway?".

"The Best Of Whose Line" will be a two disc DVD set consisting of ten episodes that are supposed to represent the absolute best of Whose Line.  The region one (US & Canada only) DVD will be released on June 9th of this year.

Below is text from a statement released on tvshowsondvd.com that describes the DVD release in more detail:

Drew Carey hosts this American version of the British improvisational comedy series as an ensemble performs unrehearsed "games" before a live audience. No one gets voted off the show. That would be too easy. Instead contestants face crueler fates: be a fish on a TV dating show, Adam and Eve when they first converse, a doo-wop group singing about a girl (and a tragic taxidermy accident). We're not making this up. They are.

Host Drew Carey, a clever crew of comedy regulars and special guests (David Hasselhoff, Florence Henderson, Jerry Springer, Richard Simmons, bodybuilder Jane Tricker and more) come up with funny-on-the-fly in the hit series that crosses a game show with mad improvisation. Discover 10 of the show's best episodes with all of the censor bars and bleeps removed, so you can enjoy every bit of the delicious and daring funny business in all its glory. Uncensored means that the potential for laughter is unlimited!

Warner Home Video has announced that a DVD release titled Whose Line Is It Anyway? - The Best Of will come to stores on June 9th. This 2-disc, 300-minute release contains 10 favorite episodes of the classic, kooky series, at a cost of $24.98 SRP. Below is a list of those episodes:

MadWorld Wii Game Release Dates

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

Some time ago last year, GPN announced that Greg would be doing commentary work in the upcoming Wii Game "MadWorld".  It has finally been announced that MadWorld will be released on March 10th for the US, and on March 20th for all countries that are members of the EU.  Greg plays Howard, one of two Death Watch commentators.  The game itself has an arcade gameplay structure, with flat primarily black and white images for a bit of an older school look.  The story of the game is that, to quote the official MadWorld website:

"In Varrigan City, driven into quarantine and chaos by the outbreak of a deadly virus, 'survival of the fittest' takes on a whole new meaning as trapped citizens are pitted against each other in the gruesome sports show "Death Watch".  Play as Jack and fight to the death as he battles to win the ultimate prize - his life."

For a recent interview with Greg and John DiMaggio (who voices as the other commentator) with their thoughts on the game and what went on behind the scenes, do take a moment to read this article.
